Geofire Fire Door Retainers
Overview
Geofire electromagnetic fire door holders are designed to hold open fire doors in areas where easy access is essential. They can be used in conjunction with suitable fire alarm systems and automatically release the fire door when the fire alarm activates.
When an alarm condition occurs, power to the door holder is cut. This allows the fire door, fitted with its standard door closer mechanism, to close automatically and restore the fire compartmentation within the building.
The Doormouse door holder includes an integrated manual release button, allowing the door to be closed without activating the fire alarm system. This provides practical everyday operation while maintaining compliance with fire safety requirements.
The device is surface mounted and housed in a white fire-resistant ABS casing. It has been type-tested to meet EN1155 requirements and includes knockouts for surface or rear cable entry. A spring-loaded pin ensures zero residual holding force when the unit is de-energised.
The 230V AC version includes an EMC suppression filter and is CE marked. Internal diodes help dissipate back EMF during switch-off, reducing wear on the control unit.
Geofire door retainers are ideal for public access areas including hospitals, offices, hotels, nursing homes and other buildings where fire doors must remain open during normal operation but close automatically in an emergency.
